Qarpet project, Yerevan. 2024
A project inspired by the culture of Armenia. Combining the monumentality of the carved khachkar shape and the rich carpet weaving traditions of different schools, each of the objects in the series tells its own story. After conducting research and talking with cultural endeavors, we came to the conclusion that reading the symbols of each carpet is an individual experience and the viewer is free to interpret the patterns based on their own feelings. By adapting the ornamentation to the chainsaw carving and laying our own narrative, we have created something fundamentally new, a symbiosis of the two main cultural symbols of Armenia in our opinion.
The first Carpet is made on the basis of the classic carpet of the Artsakh school. The central part of the composition symbolizes the hands of the creators of the Futura Archaica workshop, who hold her artistic image.
The product is made mainly with a chainsaw. The material is beech, accelerated staining, oil.
